Looking at a barren lifeless area where you would prefer to see a well groomed
lawn may seem overwhelming. In reality though starting from scratch has many
advantages when you are building a lawn. The key to a beautiful lawn is the
soil that it grows in. Good soils grow strong vigorous root systems that keep
your new lawn healthy. Being able to use the proper soils, will get your lawn
off to the right start and will help to reduce water and fertilizer use in the
future. The problem with much of the loam found in our area is that it is sandy
and low in organic material. In many cases forest loams may be very acidic as
well. This can cause vital nutrients to be chemically bonded in such a way that
they are not available for your lawn to use. Sand is good for reducing compaction,
but allows too much water and nutrients to pass beyond the root zone before
your lawn has the opportunity to use them. This is called leaching, you may
have heard this term used before, as it is a major cause of groundwater pollution
and will cause you to waste money on irrigation and fertilizers. Organic matter
acts like a sponge and holds on to water and the nutrients that water carries.
Making sure the soils that your lawn grows in have the appropriate amount of
organic material and the right ph helps to insure that your lawn will have the
proper building blocks for success. Landscape Support Services can customize
the soils we use to your site creating the ideal medium for growing your new
lawn.
Whether you just need materials and seeding, or you would prefer that we coordinate
the entire job, Landscape Support Services will be your partner, working with
you to create the lawn you have always dreamed of at a cost you’re comfortable
with.
