Lawn Care
Why should I have my lawn fertilized by a lawn care provider?
Can’t I buy the same products myself and get the same results?
Perhaps in many cases you can, if you are willing to spend the time to do the
applications and learn about the variety of pathogens that can detrimentally
affect your turf. If you don’t have serious insect or disease problems, you
can find many of the products and the variety of equipment you will also need
to properly apply them at your local hardware store. In many cases these may
even be very similar to the products we would use on your lawn.
What am I buying from a licensed lawn care professional then?
When you buy a quality lawn care program, you are buying more than just products.
You are receiving properly applied applications and the experience and advice
of a trained professional who visits your property periodically throughout the
summer inspecting your property and giving you advise on how to improve the
health and value of your landscape.
Quality products + Precise applications + Experienced professionals =
True Value!
Landscape Support Services offers two basic lawn care programs that can be
customized to suit the individual needs of your lawn.
Traditional Lawn Care Program
As part of our traditional program, our staff will monitor and treat your lawn
for:
- Crabgrass and other noxious grassy weeds
- Broadleaf weeds including, dandelions, plantain, clover
- Surface feeding insects like chinch bug and sod web worm
- Sub surface grubs including Japanese beetle and European Chafer
Our traditional turf program consists of five steps:
- Round 1- consists of a balanced fertilizer combined with a product that
will help to control crabgrass.
- Round 2- your second round of fertilizer and crabgrass control will also
monitor your lawn for broadleaf weeds and treat them as needed
- Round 3 - a summer fertilization that encourages root growth while marinating
good plant health during periods of heat and dry weather when grass can
become stressed. We will also monitor your lawn at this time for weed and
insect problems and treat them as needed. If you have chosen to protect
your lawn against grubs we will also apply Merit to catch grubs as they
emerge.
- Round 4 – an early fall application that prepares your lawn for the fall
growth period. Fall is an excellent time to improve the health of your turf.
This is the best time for your lawn to recover from drought or disease stress
filling in weak areas in the lawn.
- Round 5 - prepares your lawn for the coming winter. Root growth in your
lawn will extend late into the fall or early winter. This application will
make sure your lawn is prepared to take full advantage of the entire growing
season, building a larger, stronger root zone.
Organic Lawn Care
Organic fertilizers feed your lawn the way nature intended!
Our organic lawn care program includes 5 applications of organic fertilizers
specifically blended to provide balanced slow release nutrition for your
lawn.
Organic fertilizers not only provide nutrients, but also supply your lawn
with microbes and soil building agents essential for healthy turf. Our organic
program protects your lawn by keeping it healthy. This program contains
no controls for weeds, insects or disease. We will monitor your lawn for
potential serious problems and advise you as needed if additional cultural
or control measures are required.
Tree and Shrub Health Care
Your trees and shrubs deserve superior health care as well.
Bronze birch borer, hemlock wooly adelgid, Maple thrips, leaf miners, leaf
galls and root rots all threaten to damage or kill the trees and shrubs
that make up your landscape.
How do you best protect your landscape without costly
blanket applications of insecticides and fungicides?
Landscape Support Services has designed a program around the IPM (Integrated
Pest Management) concept which will protect your landscape, reducing the
use of pesticides to a minimum.
- Step 1:
A deep root application of plant nutrients and bio-stimulants which will
provide proper nutrient levels without stimulating excessive growth. This
application includes products from companies including Plant Health Care,
Roots and Organic Gem specifically formulated to meet the needs of both
mature and newly planted landscapes.
- Steps 2-4
Our trained plant care technicians will make periodic visits and inspect
your yard for potential or existing problems or insect and disease infestations.
Any plants requiring treatment will be attended to and a detailed report
will be left for you detailing treatments and any cultural changes we thing
will be required to keeps your plants in optimum health.
- Step 5
An application of Dormant oil applied after fall leaf drop for plants susceptible
to insects like scale and mites.

all trees and shrubs in your landscape. Under the guidance of our New Hampshire

shrubs, sometimes it is unavoidable; we have the proper equipment and personnel
